Hello! My name is Carlos Esteban and I am the author of the blog "What DNA test?".
I have a PhD in Biochemistry and research experience on both sides of the Atlantic having worked in Spain, Germany, the USA and the UK. If you are curious about my whereabouts, you can have a look at my Linkedin profile.
After nine years as a scientist in the field of molecular microbiology and biotechnology I decided to have a career change and studied an MBA. For one year I coordinated the project management unit at a foundation promoting health care and biomedical research. And now I am involved in an entrepreneurial project, Genagen, aimed to provide information (so far only in Spanish) and facilitate access of patients to diagnostic services for genetic diseases.
I quite liked teaching and tutoring students' projects when I was in the academic sector, so my goal with "What DNA test?" is to fulfill this teaching penchant writing a divulgative blog to explain how the different genetic tests work. The aim of this blog is to provide a general introduction to genetics as well as information and news on DNA technology and the wide range of DNA tests currently available: paternity testing, ancestry search, genetic testing for health and disease factors, etc.
I will greatly appreciate any feedback or suggestions on the blog. You can contact me by:
